The 2017 Anti-Racism Act requires school districts to conduct identity data collection for the purpose of obtaining relevant information that can be used to help districts eliminate systemic racism and advance racial equity.

Data collection is confidential and secure and is conducted by the Center for Leadership and Evaluation Inc. Your participation in the census questionnaire is important, but entirely voluntary.

The de-identified data will allow the Northern Lights CSDC to better understand the racial inequities of its school communities. By collecting this data, the Boreal Aurora CSDC will be able to cross-reference this data with data on achievement, attendance, perceived school climate, and well-being, among others, to better understand racial inequities. This initiative will support the planning of intervention plans to advance equity and eliminate achievement gaps between various identity groups.

The questions asked address topics such as languages used, religious affiliation, ethnic identity, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, and status in Canada.

Parents of all our elementary schools (kindergarten to 8e grade), high school students in grade 9e à 12e year, as well as CSDCAB staff members were invited to complete the questionnaire between May 11 and 31, 2022.

If you have any questions regarding this questionnaire, please send them to us via email, recensement@csdcab.on.ca.
