The CSDC des Aurores boréales (CSDCAB) and Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation are proud to announce a partnership that will provide enriching educational experiences for students and allow Lac des Mille Lacs (LDML) to continue the evolution of their programs.

Until a permanent location is secured for their school, LDML’ Seventh Fire program will move into the space previously occupied by CSDCAB administration, next to ÉSC de La Vérendrye. The mutual respect for each party’s unicity and their collaborative approach to this partnership will ensure that both organizations coexist successfully.

"The CSDC des Aurores boréales takes to heart its responsibilities towards Canada’s reconciliation with its Indigenous peoples and the Indigenous education of its students," said Mireille Major-Levesque, Associate Director of Education. "This partnership provides an opportunity for the school board to implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action."

There are many benefits to this partnership, including sharing teaching methods and cultural knowledge, experiential learning and learning through interaction with the environment, nature, and the outdoors. It offers an unparalleled opportunity for cultural sharing and intercultural understanding.

“We are thrilled to partner with CSDCAB in this exciting venture as we move towards our goal of ‘Reconciliation through Education’,” said Chief Whitecloud, Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation. “Our students, staff, and families look forward to building strong community relationships.”

The necessary renovations to the CSDCAB administrative offices will begin in June 2022. LDML is scheduled to move in for the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Once the renovations are complete, an event will be held to welcome them to 175 High Street North.
