A success for budding scientists!

Twenty students from three of our Council's schools - École Franco-Terrace, École Enfant-Jésus and École Étoile du Nord - and three teachers signed up to take part in and run a wonderful virtual science fair, which took place on Tuesday, June 23.

The wide range of scientific projects enabled us to make advances and take the first steps towards a future scientific career. The winning projects were :

  • Making light
  • Plastic recycling
  • Lung capacity
  • Building and operating an engine
  • The frog life cycle
  • Building a solar oven
  • Building an electric current
  • Cooking a recipe
  • Growing tomatoes
  • Pulley construction

Students had to meet certain criteria, and the jury - made up of La Vérendrye high school teacher Éric Gauthier, school counsellor Donald Pelletier and educational consultant Nancy Fournier-Leclerc - had to debate their arguments to select the winners. Rest assured that all the projects piqued the public's curiosity, even virtually.

Thanks to Mrs Marie-Jacquard Handy for her welcome, and to the judges and teachers for their dedication to our students' success.

Hats off to all the participants!
