Midi-parents : Honoring history, building the future together

    Full day
    16 September 2025

As part of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, PPE invites you to a workshop to reflect and share on the role of families in this collective journey.

Honoring history, building the future together is a workshop designed to remind us of the importance of learning more about the cultures and realities of aboriginal peoples, particularly in the school environment, in order to offer our children an inclusive and respectful education.

We are privileged to welcome Cynthia Savard, a mother of Algonquin descent living in Ottawa. A committed parent within her community and PPE, Cynthia actively contributes to creating spaces for inclusion, dialogue and the valorization of aboriginal parental knowledge. She will share her experience as a mother and active community member, and invite us to reflect together on the role each parent can play in accompanying children on the road to reconciliation.

Parents, partners and caregivers: you're all invited to join forces to build practical solutions rooted in families' experiences and aspirations.

    Academic success and life experiences

This interactive training aims to raise awareness among school staff of the impact of life experiences and privilege on student success. Through hands-on activities and discussions, staff will discover how personal baggage, negative experiences and privileges influence brain development, academic progress and equity in the educational environment. The workshop encourages reflection on inclusion and proposes concrete tools to better accompany each student towards success.

Improve student communication in my class

Science, food and nutrition, religion, technology - all these subjects contain the communication skill to be assessed. Whether in laboratory reports or oral presentations, our students need to be able to make themselves understood and use vocabulary appropriate to the subject matter. The aim of this training is to identify students' strengths and challenges in oral and written communication, and to help them improve their communication skills in all high school subjects.
