Students in grades 7-12 in Thunder Bay must apply for school bus transportation annually. This applies to all students entering grades 7 and 8 in an elementary school and all students entering any high school in September 2019, including current grade 12 students who plan to return to school for an additional year.
The 2019-2020 transportation application is now available at www.ststb.ca for students attending the following schools in September 2019 and must be completed by April 30, 2019 to be included in route preparation for next year.
- La Vérendrye Catholic School (7th and 8th)
- La Vérendrye Catholic High School
Key elements:
- Students in grades 7-12 must reside more than 1.6 km from their board designated school to be eligible for bus transportation;
- School bus stops are further away for students in grades 7-12 - they are expected to walk up to half a mile to reach a bus stop in residential areas;
- Eligibility is determined solely by the STSTB software. The current year's eligibility tool can be found under the "Eligibility" link at www.ststb.ca.
- If your student chooses to enroll in a school other than the school designated by the school board, transportation will not be provided;
- Assigned students who do not ride the bus at least once in a period of 20 consecutive school days may be removed from the bus and must reapply to be reinstated;
- Individual student transportation information for the 2019-2020 school year will only be available online through the "Parent Portal" at www.ststb.ca at the end of June 2019. A notice will be posted when this information becomes available.
