The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) sets out a process for developing, implementing and enforcing accessibility standards that government, businesses, not-for-profit organizations and public sector organizations must follow to become more accessible. The goal is for Ontario to be accessible to all by January 1, 2025. In order to achieve this goal, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act has established standards in the following areas
- Client Services
- Buildings
- Employment
- Information and communications
- Transport
The Integrated Accessibility Standards regulation (effective June 2011), includes standards for the following three areas only:
- Employment
- Information and communications
- Transport
