L'La Vérendrye Catholic High School is proud to announce that Caleb Blain, a 12-year-olde will join the Lakehead University wrestling team for the 2025-2026 school year. He has accepted this opportunity.
"Suddenly, all the 6 a.m. practices, the three-times-a-day workouts and the sacrifices on both my part and my parents' part are worth it. I can't wait to join Coach Ferguson's team in September," said Caleb Blain.
This new step marks the start of a promising university adventure for Caleb, who will also be entering the kinesiology program next September. The scholarship he has received will enable him to concentrate on his studies and his development as an athlete.
Known for his hard work, discipline and outstanding performances at both the high school and national levels, Caleb caught the eye of coach Jordan Ferguson and the Lakehead University wrestling team. The entire staff and student body at La Vérendrye are delighted to see a local talent continue to shine on the university scene.
The school organized a draft contract signing ceremony on December 5 to bring together the coaches who played a key role in Caleb's development: Mr. Blain, Mr. Comeau (St. Ignatius), Ms. Knowles (LWC Club) and Mr. Ferguson (Lakehead University), as well as his family and friends.
"Caleb, the entire La Vérendrye community is behind you and wishes you every success in this next chapter of your life!" said Catherine Paquette, teacher, sports coordinator and initiator of the ceremony.
