    Teachers and support staff will have the opportunity to explore innovative tools for diagnostic assessment in mathematics. This hands-on workshop will introduce school staff to the Taking Action kit, the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and the Knowledgehook platform. Learn how to use these resources to accurately identify your students' needs, personalize your teaching and promote success in mathematics.
  • Differentiation through learning centers: from planning to implementation
    Teachers and support staff will have the opportunity to work out effective differentiated learning centers from their planning. This hands-on workshop will guide staff in creating learning centers adapted to the different levels and needs of your students, whatever their grade. Learn how to use your planning as a basis for designing varied and engaging activities, enabling successful differentiation within your classroom.

As part of National Francophone Immigration Week, ÉSC La Vérendrye invites Thunder Bay's francophone community to a gathering on Thursday, November 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.! On the program: a screening of "Assez French" followed by a pot luck.

For the pot luck, bring a dish to share, so that everyone can sample the flavors of each other. Bring the whole family, invite some friends and let's celebrate Francophone diversity!

The activity will take place in the school cafeteria.

The 18-minute documentary highlights the struggles and victories involved in reclaiming one's French-Canadian identity. As parents, children and grandchildren gather to sing, play and celebrate, in French and English, this act of passing on a language finally becomes synonymous with joy and freedom.

The webinars will address some of the most common parenting issues and behaviours that families encounter. They offer brief support to parents who generally manage situations well, but have a concern or two about their child's behavior or development. They can also be a good introduction to positive parenting, encouraging parents to consider further, more in-depth Triple P interventions.

These webinars are aimed at parents or carers of children aged 2 to 12.

The series includes three webinars in English onlyEach session lasts 90 minutes, and parents are encouraged to attend all three.

The seminars will take place via Teams from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. :

    The heterogeneity of student groups is often identified as a challenge to achieving learning targets and developing learners' skills. What if, instead of seeing it as a hindrance, we used it as a lever, a driving force? This conference will take you on an exploration of the creative potential of this diversity, from the perspective of universal design for learning. Staff will be encouraged to reflect on the challenges facing their own environment, and to identify solutions that are truly applicable, all in a creative, collaborative and innovative exercise.
  • Workshop series afternoon (choice of 2 - 30 minutes each)
    • Copilot (all)
      Teachers and support staff will learn more about how Microsoft Copilot can make their lives easier! From annual and weekly planning to lesson plans, evaluation grids, correction and feedback, they'll discover how Microsoft Copilot can become an indispensable tool in their teaching practice.
    • Diagnostic resources - Knowledgehook (K-6/7-10)
      Discover Knowledgehook, an innovative mathematics diagnostic assessment platform for K-10 teachers. This powerful tool effectively assesses students' prior learning and instantly provides a detailed analysis of their strengths and challenges. Based on this data, the platform proposes targeted intervention strategies to close the identified gaps. This tool will enable you to better target your interventions and help you improve your students' performance.
    • EAV/Padlet PACIC and Intranet (all)
      This workshop introduces the new resource-sharing tool in EAV, adapted to different learning domains. Participants will explore the PACIC Padlet to familiarize themselves with its content and operation. The workshop will also enable participants to discover the Intranet's functionalities, organization and various pedagogical uses. Essential training for mastering these collaborative tools and optimizing their use in an educational context.
    • Take Action Kit
      This workshop presents the Taking action for reconciliationA tool available in schools for integrating Aboriginal perspectives into teaching. The resources, designed in a magazine format for students, offer a variety of inquiry-based learning approaches that can be adapted to the specific needs of learners. Essential training to enrich teaching practices in Aboriginal education.
    • Well-being and school attendance (all)
      This workshop will enable staff to explore the essential role of school personnel in promoting school attendance. Concrete strategies and tools to support students with attendance difficulties will be presented. Participants will also discover the resources available on the attendance web page of the Conseil's website. A relevant training session for developing effective approaches to regular attendance.
    • Digital awareness toolkit (all)
      Come explore how École branchée offers resources to help meet today's challenges of digital integration in the classroom (cybersecurity, AI, screen time, etc.). All French schools in Ontario subscribe to École branchée magazine.
    • Assessing in 2024: tips and challenges (7th to 12th)
      Collecting learning records, competency-based assessment, artificial intelligence, educational differentiation... It's not always easy to assess in 2024! Yet a host of sometimes unsuspected uses for your digital tools open up a whole new world of possibilities. The aim of this workshop is to provide you with food for thought, as well as concrete solutions to help you advance your vision of assessment. You'll also find out how you can do this in your own particular context. 

       

    • Response to intervention and assistive technology (all)
      In this hands-on workshop, there will be an exploration of essential digital tools to facilitate reading and writing for students:

      • the Lexibar tool for its free word prediction and text-to-speech features
      • Microsoft Word's immersive reader for more comfortable, personalized reading of documents
      • Word's Dictation function to transform speech into text
      • Edge's immersive reader, a practical tool for reading web pages
    • Identifying and supporting students with mental health difficulties
      Schools are often the first point of access to help for young people in Ontario. This workshop aims to equip school staff to identify and support students facing mental health challenges.

As part of Literacy Month 2024, this webinar is part of the "Let's talk about money" theme. It aims to break the taboos around financial conversations, recognizing the urgency of addressing this topic in the current Canadian economic context.
