The Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales is proud to announce the appointment of an additional superintendent of education to its leadership team, Monia Lalande is appointed to the newly created role, effective August 21, 2023.

This appointment is the result of a change to the Board’s organizational structure to meet the requirements and recommendations of the Ministry of Education for the creation of a Math Lead position in Ontario school boards.

Monia Lalande holds a Master's degree in Education, a Bachelor's degree in Education (primary and intermediate) and a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences. She possesses a wide range of skills having worked as a teacher, instructional coach, education officer, vice-principal and principal.

Since her arrival as Assistant Director of Educational Services in 2021, Ms. Lalande quickly integrated into the francophone community and has taken on a leadership role in Indigenous education within our schools. In December 2021, Monia Lalande was appointed Director of Educational Services to the advantage of our school communities as they continued to benefit from her diverse experience and leadership.

"We are delighted to welcome Ms. Lalande as Superintendent of Education. Her career has been marked by success and leadership. We are convinced that she will implement an effective action plan to achieve the objectives of improvement and success in mathematics as requested by the Ministry," noted Mireille Major-Levesque, Director of Education.

The Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales covers and serves nine communities in Northwestern Ontario and includes nine elementary schools and one secondary school.
