The Association des enseignantes et des enseignantes franco-ontariens (AEFO), which represents teachers in our Board, has issued a second one-day strike notice for Friday, February 21, 2020.

As a result, we will not be able to ensure the safety and well-being of students and will have to close our schools to students. Unless an agreement is reached by then, classes and transportation will be cancelled for the day of February 21, for all students in the following schools

  • ÉSC de La Vérendrye, Thunder Bay
  • Franco-Superior Catholic School, Thunder Bay
  • Enfant-Jésus Catholic School, Dryden
  • North Star Catholic School, Red Lake
  • Franco-Terrace Catholic School, Terrace Bay
  • Val-des-Bois Catholic School, Marathon
  • Immaculate Conception School, Ignace
  • Our Lady of Fatima School, Longlac
  • École Notre-Dame-des-Écoles, Nakina
  • St. Joseph School, Geraldton

Parents are strongly encouraged to make alternative plans for their children's care for the day of February 21. School-based child care centres will remain open.

We regularly inform parents of the situation through the tab

"Negotiations" on our website and on the Council's and its schools' Facebook pages.

The Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores Boréales covers the entire Northwestern Ontario region and includes nine elementary schools and one secondary school.
