In early October, Brian St-Pierre offered each of our schools an enriching artistic experience.
Brian St-Pierre, accompanied by Johanne Lefebvre, presented shows for different school levels:
- Superheroes for students in kindergarten to grade 2
- Passeport-Franco for students in grade 3e à 12e year
During his shows, the artist would show a balloon to students to illustrate the importance of spreading the French language:
"The ball is like the Francophonie," he explained. "If you don't play with it, it just sits there. But if you move it around, it comes alive and makes you want to have fun."
At the same time, a group of students from each school had the opportunity to take part in a writing workshop to collaborate on the creation of a theme song for the Aurores boréales CSDC. Verses were designed by each school. Students also had the unique experience of recording the song!
A direct link to the curriculum
These activities are in line with the French and arts education curricula. Students have developed essential skills such as :
- idea development and content organization
- text creation (song) and the fundamentals of writing
- improving language skills in writing
- the ability to analyze and appreciate various artistic productions
The tour enabled students to discover art in a new form, while reinforcing their skills in writing and creative expression.
Stay tuned for the launch of the Aurores boréales CSDC theme song!
The tour and workshops were offered as part of the Ontario Arts Council's Artist-in-Residence program.
